About Me

Meet Jane Evans

During college, I lived in a small, old house. My roommates and I loved it's cozy charm and, for the most part, didn't have any problems. However, one day, we noticed that the carpet in one of the bedrooms was wet--and it couldn't be dried. When we called our landlady and the repairman, they discovered that the shower not only needed to be re-caulked, but there was mold everywhere under the carpet. We had to move out for two weeks while they fixed the problem. Soon, thanks to the contractor (the likes of whom you can read about), we were back at home.

The Electrcial And Safety Dangers Of A Rat Infestation

If the sound of rodents running through the walls, ceilings and ducts throughout the night is scary and annoying, you need to call a professional for pest removal. Rodents like rats and mice often enter homes when the weather gets cold because they want to be warm and dry, but there are many dangers that they bring.

There are a few things that you want to worry about within your home after you've had a rodent infestation, and you want to make sure you have the necessary professionals assist with the problems.

Disease and Bacteria

The rats or mice could be spreading bacteria around your home that could be fatal. You don't just have to get bitten or scratched by a rodent to get infected. The fecal matter and urine that comes out of their body can cause Hantavirus and other conditions if inhaled, and you can get rat bite fever if you are actually bitten by one.

You want to have the ducts professional cleaned and sanitized by an HVAC team, and you want to have the carpets professional cleaned. This will help remove the toxins left behind by the rodents.

Tics and Fleas

Rodents are carriers of ticks and fleas, and this can affect you and your pets. It can be difficult to get rid of fleas once they are in your home, and tics can cause serious illness like Lyme disease. You want to have the pest experts not only treat the rodent issues, but also do an insect treatment to rid your home of these things.

Electrical Safety

Rodents have to chew frequently to keep their teeth filed down, and your electrical wiring throughout the house could be the chewing surface they pick. This can leave your house at the risk of a fire, which can be deadly. It can also put you at the risk of getting electrocuted. Once the rodents have been removed entirely from your home, have an electrical professional from a company like G.J. Rossi & Son examine the entire house to make sure the wiring is safe.

There are many damages that the rodents may cause while they are scurrying around your home, and it's best to address the problem right away. The rodents aren't going to just go away without professional treatment, and instead they will start to multiply at a fast rate. Call the experts necessary to make your home safe from danger as soon as you know rodents are nesting in the house.
